Diagnostic, laboratory and hospital equipment with the registration, installation and calibration the category requires — for hospitals, laboratories and public tender.
Medical equipment is not a delivered-and-done category. An analyser that arrives without installation, calibration, trained operators and a reagent supply behind it is a capital item that cannot be used, and most of the cost of getting it wrong lands after the invoice is settled.
Supply covers diagnostic and laboratory equipment, patient monitoring, theatre equipment, and the consumables and reagents that run through them. Public health procurement is a significant part of it, supplied as a Government A-Class contractor through the e-GP system.
Registration comes first. Medical devices entering Bangladesh require Directorate General of Drug Administration clearance, and the route differs by device class. It is confirmed at enquiry stage, because it sets the lead time more often than the manufacturer does.
